Giving farmers access to improved seed also contributes to improved food security at both family and regional level. Through plant breeding, crops can be made more tolerant to climatic stress or pest attacks and better suited for storage and processing. Svalöf Consulting AB provides the know-how and services needed for the development of crop research and seed industry around the world. The technical core competence covers the whole chain from plant biotechnology and breeding to seed production and marketing. All projects include managerial and human resource development. Svalöf Consulting AB arranges training courses in Sweden in 'Sustainable Agriculture, Pesticide Management' as well as in 'Plant Breeding and Seed Production'. On behalf of Swedish Biodiversity Centre (CBM), and together with Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), a training course is arranged in 'Genetic Resources and Intellectual Property Rights'. Participants from all parts of the world are welcome. Specialised courses are also designed and given in other countries on request. Our MissionIn april 2006 Rutger Persson, senior international expert in development of the seed industri and agricultural sector purchased the Consultancy Department previously operated by Svalöf Weibull AB. The newcompany is located in the town of Svalöf in southern Sweden. Svalöf Consulting AB continues to develop consulting activities in the agri-food sector, mainly in Central Asia, in partnership with Niras AB, based on their well-established relations with the agricultural and food sectors in countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and neighbouring countries. Svalöf Consulting AB contributes to enforcing the strategy of modernizing these sectors on behalf of international agencies (WB, ADB, EC, EBRD,DFID, Sida) within the scope of international agreements of partnership and cooperation. Svalöf Consulting AB provides technical and regulatory assistance mainly in the seed industry, through project management, training and planning, with an overall objective to assist transition and structural changes in Central Asia which began in the early nineties.
